I love massages, especially when a strong pair of hands rubs essential oil and unravel the knots of my aching muscles. Guess after slogging hard and slouching on the non-ergonomic armchair most of the time, a good massage is definitely more worthy than a pair of Ninewest shoes : P
Just now, after a hearty dinner of bak kut teh and avocado shake, Fat Boy and I went to a Chinese tui na centre in Joo Chiat. I had been complaining of aching muscles to him since we came back from Genting - Kuala Lumpur and I reckoned I would crumble if the aches continued. There was no way I could function properly with aching shoulders and neck : (
We reached at 8:30pm (It was the last slot for the day) sharp and after undressing, I was manhandled by a plump and friendly-looking masseuse. She used all her energy to rub, knead and bend my whole body. Her every touch inflicted great pain on me. Damn! It was so different from the usual snooze-inducing aromatherapy massages, which I would feel so at peace and holistic (Spa and massage parlors' favorite word). To decrease the amount of inflicted pain, I tried hard to breathe in and out and due to reflexes, my muscles seemed to harden in protest (Which caused the masseuse to keep reminding me to relax). Hence, the only way to relax was to chat with the masseuse. I threw her many questions regarding her personal life (and in return, she threw back several questions at me, guess it was to keep her awake). In no time, we were like long-time friends who could not stop talking and laughing (Affinity eh?). Before the session was up, she told me that my spine was crooked (She had no remedy for that) and it would also be good if I could sleep early because she could feel I had lotsa "internal heat".
Strange enough, after the torturous massage session, I felt very light and that my muscles were not as tight as before. It was very different from the usual aromatherapy which doesn't really do much on healing the aching spots - It is more of relaxation and sleep-induction : )
Went home to wash my oily hair and skin and while waiting for my hair to dry, I decided to write an entry as well as to add comments in the SPI forum. The time now is 1am, guess it's time for me to retire...
