Batam Trip

Did I tell you that I went for a 2D 1N Batam trip with Rightie, Adeline and the rest? Batam is really a place for a short getaway. Seafood, booze, A&W and massage is cheap and good. However, I may not want to go back again, if given a choice, because of some bad experiences : (

Our personal driver who was supposed to pick us up at Batam Centre at 3pm, was late by over an hour and we did not know that the distance to our hotel, Holiday Inn, would be 30 minutes from town. By the time we reached the hotel, we were more tired than ever : ( In order not to waste more time, we met at the lobby and headed to Nagoya Hill Shopping Centre - an old shopping centre, that resembles the shopping centres at Chinatown. Nothing much to shop, nothing much to buy ; ( While the rest went to stroll around the mall, Rightie, Dickie Boi, Fat Boy and I went to A&W (yes, again!) to rest our sore calves.

Dinner was all about seafood and I must say it was not bad - we had crabs in chili and black pepper sauce, hotplate tofu, steamed fish, butter squid, stir-fried kale and sambal kangkong. Bintang beer was cheap and we gulped a couple of bottles while enjoying ge-tai : )

We went back to our hotel, washed up before gathering to enjoy snacks and Heineken beer which we bought at the local hypermart (A can of Heineken beer costs S$1.80 - We bought 14 cans) Played some drinking games till the wee hours. I believed everybody was gone even before their heads touched the pillow.

Breakfast was good and hearty at the hotel cafe. As usual, I had my sunny side-up, sausages and bread and yes, I had some fried bee hoon (it was good!) too. After breakfast, we went for a good backrub at Isabella Massage near Nagoya Shopping Centre. I had a 2 hour aromatherapy session for 30 bucks! Awwww....had a quick lunch at one of the many eateries at the top floor of Nagoya Shopping Centre and regret ordering fried chicken in strawberry sauce with rice. I thought it would be delicious, from what I saw in the menu, damn, it turned out to be inedible : (

We rushed back to the hotel to collect our barang barang before heading to the ferry terminal (Yes, everything was in time : ) ) The journey back home was nice and soothing as we sat at the top level of the ferry. I enjoyed the salty breeze so much that I dozed off...well, just nice for a good hot steamboat dinner when we reached home. Daddy and Mummy had prepared lotsa prawns, crabs and cuttlefish (yes, seafood again) : )
