38 Bucks

Yesterday morning, I met up with Adeline at Far East Plaza to get our crowns of glory trimmed. Initially, I thought I was on time, but I was 20 minutes late due to the long wait for Bus 123 : ( Before that, King Kong was waiting for me at the bus-stop outside Shaw House - He had just taken his Microsoft exam and failed. Argh. (I thought that he would breeze through it since all along I thought he was smart. Guess little accidents do happen at times : ))

During our haircuts, we had a great time chatting with Joanne, the hairstylist. She was 6 months pregnant and we felt happy for her : ) However, I had a little worry: What happens during her maternity leave? Are we going to leave our hair untrimmed for 3 months? : 0

After paying 38 bucks each for our haircut and feeling satisfied, we went to have lunch at the chicken rice stall beside the hair salon : ) before proceeding to the bus-stop (Adeline went for her yoga class) As for King Kong and I, we strolled around Orchard Road and I was feeling very grouchy due to lack of sleep. Nothing, except sleep, could perk me up and King Kong suggested we take a seat at a cafe. After purchasing movie tickets for the 4:10pm slot, we rest our tired feet and souls at Coffee Club in Ngee Ann City. It worked wonders - After half an hour, I regained my energy and we strolled to Cineleisure to catch our movie.

It was nice watching movies with King Kong with his big big shoulder and arms. Felt warm sitting next to him. During the show, I kept catching him sighing and after it, he became moody. Asked him when he was behaving like that and he started to rake up our issue. Feeling touchy, I brushed him off and as usual, he gave in to me and we had our dinner at Sakae Sushi in Heeren. After he knew my favorite food was Spicy Salmon Gunkan, he kept pushing them down my throat (I have a bad feeling that the food item would fall out of my favorite food category soon)

As I had a dinner appointment with my university mates, I proceeded to meet up with them at Xin Wang HK Cafe in Cineleisure while poor King Kong waited for me at Gloria Jeans. Though I was having iced honey green tea and kaya toast with them, my heart was not with them; I was wondering what the latter was doing, though he was telling me he would be reading his book : / After the session ended in 2 hours, I rushed out and meet up with him. When asked what he had been doing while waiting for me, he mentioned that he was blogging (Instead of studying?!What the hell!)

As it was rather early, I suggested taking a stroll before hopping onto the bus to home. He agreed and we took a long route from Cineleisure to the bus-stop in Beo Crescent. Though we took about an hour walking, I didn't feel the strain; perhaps we couldn't stop talking along the way?

Finally took the bus to my bus-stop before he took Bus 147 home. Hmm, though feeling fatigued from the whole day's events, why couldn't I get enough (or too much) of him?

Phuket Trip

Finally back from a 4-day Phuket trip (with courtesy from Fat Boy and his company)! Right now, I am feeling overwhelmed by fatigue, aches and sunburns : (

14 Feb 2008 (Thursday)
  • After a good session of machine toning and cold wrap, I met up with Fat Boy for dinner.
  • After filling our tummies at the Korean restaurant in Heeren, we strolled around.
  • Bought an aqua cap and a pair of retro-chic sunglasses.
  • Went home to bid farewell to King Kong and had a short nap before going to the Airport.
15 Feb 2008 (Friday)
  • Met up with Fat Boy's colleagues (including David & Jennifer : ) Yay!)
  • Checked in and had ham & cheese sandwich with hot English breakfast. Surfed the net for 10 minutes (which included penning a short mail to King Kong).
  • Strolled around to look for cheap branded buys (thought of splurging on a Gucci bag), but to no avail : (
  • Boarded the plane and slept throughout the journey.
  • Reached Phuket and went for a city tour for half a day (How boring!) Had Japanese buffet (Imagine how much cod fish in miso sauce I chomped!) before heading to a Thai temple where we offered incense. Felt dizzy due to the strong heat and lack of sleep.
  • Proceeded to Mercure Hotel where we took a relaxing hot shower and nap before having grill buffet at the rooftop.
  • Had tons of grilled beef and stir-fried veggie (I felt fat) and I had a good time chatting with Fat Boy, David & Jennifer.
  • Both Fat Boy & I left for a 600 baht each Thai massage near Patong Beach in a van arranged by the tour guide.
  • Felt disappointed by the exterior and interior of the massage parlor; but went ahead.
  • The masseuse who attended to me was bad (in terms of professionalism, attitude and skill). Halted the massage after an hour (supposedly 2 hours) and screwed her upside down. Left the place with a bad taste in my mouth.
16 Feb 2008 (Saturday)
  • Woke up early to have complimentary breakfast. Had my usual sunny side-up, toast and sausages, as well as a scoop of fried rice & steamed egg by the side.
  • Took a 40 minute bus ride to the ferry terminal where we took over an hour ferry ride to Phi Phi Islands. Slept throughout the journey and felt very dehydrated.
  • The ferry anchored at a certain spot and the crowd was thrown into chaos - Everybody rushed for their snorkeling, except me and Fat Boy (I was afraid of the water whereas he couldn't see without his glasses) Both of us climbed to the top to sun-bathe.
  • After an hour, everybody resumed to their seats and we proceeded to another island.
  • Had buffet lunch of Chinese food (sucky!) and we went shopping at the bazaar. Bought a strapless sundress and felt a sense of achievement when I managed to get it at a good price : )
  • Fat Boy ogled at a topless Caucasian woman at the other end of the beach and he was salivating like mad : /
  • We took the ferry back to mainland, where a coach took us to a bird nest factory.
  • Fat Boy's boss treated all of us to a bowl of lukewarm bird nest soup (too sweet though)
  • After that, we headed to a Chinese restaurant to have an early dinner : ( As I was too full, I couldn't really enjoy the food - Had a few mouthfuls of rice and some dishes.
  • Bloated, both Fat Boy & I, David & Jennifer went to the bazaar behind our hotel to window shop.
  • After walking for a few hours and due to the early dinner, we settled at Shakers, a cafeteria to have supper. As I was afraid of weight-gain, I had a bowl of tomato soup and 2 pieces of ham & cheese toast (yes, I know it doesn't make any difference : ( )
  • Went back to the hotel room at 2am and had a good night's rest : )
17 Feb 2008 (Sunday)
  • It was a drudgery to wake up early : ( Feeling pissed, I washed up and had complimentary breakfast.
  • Gathered at the lobby before we were sent to Patong Beach for a telematch.
  • Slapped loads of sunscreen onto my arms, legs and back because I could feel the scorching heat : (
  • Had great fun playing those games and I won 600 baht by being in the champion team : )
  • Both Fat Boy & I left for the hotel, leaving both David & Jennifer, as well as the rest at the beach for their water sports (I am not keen in breaking my limbs or getting scorched by the sun)
  • After a good shower and a short nap, both of us went for our shopping - We walked the whole stretch of Patong, enjoyed an exquisite traditional massage-cum-foot reflexology package as well as having a lousy dinner of fish & chips and Guinness Stout at Molly Malone's (I was too hungry to continue walking to search for other restaurants)
  • We continued walking until we came to JungCeylon, a mega shopping mall, where we rested our tired calves and enjoyed Swenson's ice cream : ) (I had a few spoonfuls as I was afraid of putting on weight)
  • Went back to the hotel and collected the kong ming lanterns from Jennifer & David, who were exhausted and scorched from water sports.
  • We lit the kong ming lanterns from the balcony and mine sashayed to the porch. Before we could reach to it, the security guard doused the flame , stepped on it and threw it in the rubbish bin. My heart broke : ( As for Fat Boy's, I guess his successfully rose to the dark sky : )
18 Feb 2008 (Monday)
  • I hate waking up early, especially on the last day of the trip, as it is the best time to rest & relax before heading home.
  • Fat Boy, as the evergreen adventurer, proposed to check out from the hotel room earlier than the desired timing so that he could walk around and have a last glimpse of Patong. I accommodated him as I felt it would be unwise for me to stay in the room by myself. In addition, I had used up my cash : / (All the more, it was a no-no staying put)
  • After having breakfast, we strolled to the bazaar behind the hotel before going to JungCeylon.
  • Felt ultra pissed and the growing fatigue and scorching heat compounded the anger in me and I flared up. Had a quarrel in Swenson's before he gave in.
  • We continued to stroll until 3pm - when we had to gather in the hotel lobby before proceeding to Central, another mega shopping mall.
  • Snoozed in the bus and both of us decided to have tunch at MK's before going for our window-shopping.
  • Enjoyed the great steamboat; but unfortunately, the MSG was so much that it made me feel constantly thirsty : (
  • Took a stroll at retail shops and realized that the prices were more or less the same as Singapore's.
  • Hopped onto the coach and headed to the Airport before we flew back to home sweet home : )

Starry Starry Night

Met up with King Kong straight after my weekly sales meeting (which was bad; Boss was in a foul mood because of our poor performance...) He refused to tell me where we were heading to for dinner and told me to just follow him. I did as accordingly (and quite obediently as I felt bad that I couldn't make it on Wednesday - Boss had just given last minute notice regarding the Company's New Year dinner) I was kinda surprised when we bypassed Vivocity and Harbourfront because I thought there were decent restaurants only in these two shopping malls. I continued to follow him and was shocked to see an open-air restaurant (ala Pier 11) in front of a sea (His findings since last December) Since the restaurant that he had initially planned to go was closed, we went to TCC for dinner - I ordered Miso Sea-Perch in Daikon Sauce and Pumpkin Soup whereas he ordered seafood spaghetti. Though he kept saying that that was not what he had organized, I reassured him that everything was fine (Simplicity is bliss - I don't think it's necessary to spend a bomb to have an enjoyable night)

After dinner, we strolled near the sea, under the starry night. While looking at the dark sea, I heard a soft thud and turned around - I saw a little red box fall out of his pocket. He immediately picked it up and passed to me. I opened it and saw a delicate chain with a heart-shaped pendant (It is very sweet of him to buy it for me..) He asked me to remove the diamond pendant which I was wearing and wear the one that he bought. I refused because it was rather dark and I was worried I might drop both pendants into the sea (...which made him feel that his gift was not expensive enough, but I felt that he should have saved up for himself) Had a heart-to-heart chat with him and well, he was telling me that he really wanted to settle down with me and he would work very hard to make things work (I was so damn confused - I didn't know what to do)

Left the place for Vivocity where we got ourselves a drink to quench our thirst before taking a bus home...While on his way home, he kept asking me if I enjoyed the dinner and my reply to him was that everything was equivalent to a normal dinner outing : / To be frank, I am really very touched by his gestures; despite no expensive candlelight dinner or pricey diamonds...

I felt loved.

Showdown

Had one of the most freaking moments in my life last Tuesday..

After my weekly treatment, I met up with Fat Boy to have dinner at Han's in Far East Plaza. Was initially quite pissed off by his cold attitude towards me, but both us warmed up when we strolled to Zara flag store (Shopping therapy eh?) After leaving the store empty-handed (as there was really nothing to buy), we proceeded to Chevron House to collect the New Year goodies on my desk. After putting the goodies his car boot and as it was still early, I suggested walking to the night bazaar in Chinatown (to absorb the festive atmosphere as well as to see what other stuff I could buy : P ) As I was lazy to carry my bag, I stashed it in his car boot as well (which turned out to be a big mistake : ( )

When we went back to the car, I got my bag and was shocked to see 33 missed calls and 5 messages, all from King Kong. He knew I was out with Fat Boy and must have felt afraid that I might crumble again. He mentioned in his last message that he was going over to my place and I freaked out; I replied immediately telling him not to and I hoped he got my message.

Reached the loading/unloading area and while both Fat Boy and I were unloading the New Year goodies, I caught a glimpse of King Kong standing a few hundred meters from us. I signaled him not to come over; but he continued to walk towards us and Fat Boy saw him. My heart skipped several beats..

Fat Boy : Who are you?
King Kong : I am here to look for her (pointing at me)
Fat Boy : (Gave a you-come-over hand gesture)
King Kong : (Returned the gesture)
Fat Boy : Let's sit down and talk
King Kong : (Nodded and proceeded to the round stone table at my void deck)
Fat Boy : (Proceeded to the round stone table as well)
King Kong : I think you should be out of the picture long ago
Fat Boy : Uh? What are you talking about? Can you explain?
King Kong : Both of you broke up long ago and why are you still around?
Fat Boy : (Look at me) Who is this guy? Do you know him? Who is he to you?
Me : (Looked down) Ya, he is my friend
Fat Boy : So he is your friend, tell me, what about me? Who am I to you?
Me : (Paused) Boyfriend
Fat Boy : See? So why are you here to disturb my girlfriend?
King Kong : (Looked at me) Tell him la! (Looked at him) Can I have a private word with her?
Fat Boy : No. why do you appear out of the blue and disturb my girlfriend?
King Kong : Can I have a private word with her?
Fat Boy : How many times must I say no? Try harder, maybe I will say yes when I am tired
King Kong : (Flustered) Ya, I will continue to try until you say yes
Fat Boy : Can I talk to you in private?
Me : (Afraid that they might end up in blows) No! I want to be involved!
King Kong : Can you just leave her alone?
Fat Boy : I won't. If you continue to disturb her, I will call the police now
King Kong : Go ahead
Me : (Grabbed Fat Boy's mobile phone) No! Don't do this!
Me : I am very tired. Shall we just go home?
King Kong : Alright, I'll leave

Those wee hours, which should have been committed to beauty sleep, were spent on explaining to both parties : ( I slept at 3:30am in the morning and there was great temptation to take MC the following day (however I did not, ultimately)...*Sigh*, these 2 aggressive men..don't they know they are making my head spin?

Away For A Week...

Last Thursday, both Claudia and I went to meet Gisela, the HR executive of a French bank. To be frank, I was quite reluctant to have lunch with her because I always feel that the precious 1 hour belongs to me, yet I still have to put on a mask and entertain her (Bah!) As Claudia had some issues with her candidate, I rushed down to Tanjong Pagar to meet up with Gisela before making our way to Munch, a cafe that sells all kinds of salad (You name it, you have it! Unfortunately, I am not a salad person, hence it made no difference to me)

Ordered a set meal of a bowl of greens with chicken shredding and a big scoop of tuna chunks (which was a disaster), minestrone soup and a glass of iced tea. While trying to figure how to dump the damn stuff down my throat, I was bombarded by Gisela with her questions of "What is the market rate of a HR generalist and a Compensation & Benefits specialist?" and "Any intention to leave your current company? If no, why not?" (which made me felt pissed and stifled) Fortunately, Claudia arrived just in time to divert her attention away from me : ) After swallowing the damn stuff, I felt relieved and at the same time, wanted to kick myself for paying S$12.80 for such crap. I promised myself never to step into the cafe.

Makes one wonder if it's for human consumption.

In the evening, I met up with King Kong before proceeding to the Tuckshop to have dinner with the SPI members : ) Was quite disappointed with the food - Flat, but expensive. After a hearty dinner of lemon batter pan fried fish with mash and a handful of onion and calamari rings, we left the minimalist cafe for the night bazaar in Chinatown. The place was terribly crowded and it was drizzling : ( Squeezed into and out of the crowd and left the place empty-handed (There were really nothing much to buy except Taiwanese mochi) As it was still early, one of the members, AK, suggested drinks at Club 9 - We agreed without hesitation : ) The place was not as sleazy as it seemed and we had great fun throwing darts, singing KTV as well as drinking beer : )

Nothing much for Saturday as I went to JB to purchase New Year goodies. Had wanted to buy some nice clothings and accessories, but couldn't find anything suitable, hence I bought zilch : (

As for Sunday, I slept till 11am (What a beautiful life!), had my lunch and watched "Stairway to Heaven" - Was sad that the female lead ultimately died after her secret admirer donated his cornea to her by committing suicide : ( Went to Dickie Boi's mobile phone shop with Fat Boy because the latter's new mobile phone couldn't work really well, hence, needed some minor servicing. After that, both of us went to Far East Plaza to shop for my new year clothings. Bought a red dress and 3 belts : ) Had wanted to buy another dress and a business shirt, but reckoned it would be a waste of money since they couldn't fit very well..

Sleeping beauty eh?

As for today, after the weekly sales meeting, both King Kong and I had dinner at Sakae Sushi in Marina Square before strolling to Suntec City and Bugis, and finally taking a bus home. I felt so bushed such that I could just drop dead in the bus...

Arghhh...dammit. Tomorrow's only Tuesday...
